That's right. Another waterscape tutorial inspired by the last
update that I made a week ago. This was basically done in the same
way the "Summer Breeze" was done with a few brush touches
added. I know I already mentioned this in the tutorial but I'll
say it here again... since most of the features I used are available
in PSP7, I think it can be done as well. One problem (or difference)
that I saw was the renderring of Sandstone effect in PSP7. My suggestion
is play around with it till you get or come close to the desired
effect. If you have any questions about this tutorial, you can email
me here. Hopefully
we get to see more PSP users doing waterscapes in the future...

So I finally able to write something even though it was just
a quick one. This is just a simple beach scene which I think is
appropriate enough coz' summer is fast-approaching and it's
getting warm and humid where I'm at. :)

Yup, no updates in line for the coming weeks. Hope I can get
back to working some stuff in here soon coz' I'm starting to
forget how to update this page... Wishing everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS
and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

What the hell? I'm just getting warmed up with PSP 9 and
a new version (called
PSP X) is on its way already! I know getting the latest versions
is a must for the die-hard PSP users but getting it every year or
two is an expensive fad. I don't exactly consider "redesigned"
palletes, "improved" filters, or "one-step"
fixes major updates, specially when the version before it can already
do it. Not too crazy with picture tubes either coz' I know there's
a lot of sites out their that offer free Tube downloads. So what
if it takes a little longer or more steps to do. For me, this allows
more customizability (if there is such a word). Well maybe if it
can open and edit a photo shop file or support other graphic programs
without getting into so much fuzz, or maybe if it has 500 or more
new effects that I really like and cannot be reproduced through
the combinations of the already existing filters, maybe then I'll
get it. But right now, all I see is the same old thing that are
branded "improved" or whatever and packed into a new box
with a new version label on it. Until I try, see and like what
it can do, I'll stay with version 9. I love PSP... but I'm not buying
it every year or two just because it has a new box.

Ok, so before my enthusiasm finally fade and succumb to my laziness,
I was able to complete one tutorial. This is the follow up to the
preview I posted last week about vector drawing and texturing stuff.
It's called "Guitar Tutorial - Vector and Texture Play".
Go to Tutorial section and check it
out

Unfortunately, I don't have as much time as I'm used to sitting
on my PC and writing up stuff. Last week, I managed to get some
screen caps for the tutorials but still have to organize them. With
all the caps from start to finish, I came up with a new piece called
One Quiet Day... it's that little picture on the top left corner
of this window... check it out. :P

I'm still debating at this time whether or not I should rewrite
all the tutorials in PSP7 for PSP8 or 9. The thing is most of the
PSP7 features in those tutorials are also in PSP8 & 9 except
maybe for some "Preset" stuff which was removed in the
later versions. I just don't have the time but I know some of those
Presets can still be downloaded from the internet... maybe from
the Paint Shop Pro
website or from other PSP supporters and enthusiasts. I have
a few tutorials which I started a long time ago but was not able
to complete and publish upto this point. I'm going to try to make
these tutorials as general as possible to support versions 7, 8
and 9, unless the features are available only in PSP9...
or 8... etc. Hopefully, I won't get side tracked this coming week.

Just finished painting the upper level of the house and I found
me a free time to play around in PSP9 and maybe add some updates
to this site. I just had the PSP9 several months ago and this is
really the only time I started working in it and staying off the
PSP7 through out. Although this version has been out for a while,
this is the first time that I get to really test it. So... the
9 is kinda like the 8 with a few added features and similarity in
layout to the 7. It's not too difficult to figure out it's features,
including some of the new ones, like "Art Media" which
I used for the image called "Limbo". With the site's
progress, I added some rotating banners to sorta neutralize the
static feel of the page, although I was only able to put a few image
in the line up. More to come on that. Ow, and in case you ask, NO,
the left column in some of the pages is not complete yet....
|
|
Still a very slow progress. Everything is now functioning except
for the left column. Right now, all the pages share the same left
column content including the 3 pilot ads, which I plan to expand
in the future. I am currently working on the left column for each
of the pages. Again, my working time is limited on the weekends
so it might take a while. After that plan, I can probably start
working on some real updates to the contents.
|
|
Indeed, a very slow progress. I don't wan't to post this one
up yet until I have all the pages ready so I'm trying to work as
fast on every page. This is my third weekend working on
this design and currently on the third page. It should be
an easy process coz' all the templates for the pages
that I need were made and all I have to do is transfer the contents from the
previous version... NOT!.. Weekend is also my time off work and
I do try to get a life out of this "box" so technically,
I only have about 2-4 hours on Saturdays and Sundays to work on
this site. If time permits, I should be finished within..... say,
six months... just to be safe. Could be earlier or later... That
should give me enough time to fill the space up with all my thoughts
and whatever... :P

|
One noticeable change is the color and design. I decided to kinda'
base it on a typical magazine format with less lines and borders
but still divided into rows and columns. I kept the previous version's
layout as I find it to be much easier to navigate than with the
drop-down menus and much less difficult to code to be compatible
with other browsers. Of course, this is just MHO. I will not argue
with anyone who finds the later part of that statement wrong. My
main browser is IE 6.0 and my computer is an inferior PC I bought
from HSN about a couple of years ago. I don't know how this site
will show on Firefox, Linux, Opera, etc... on either PC or Mac.
But anyway, going back to the topic, the goal was to make the site
as simple as possible using as much CSS and less scripts
and graphics.
