BUTTONS

Here's one way to make those nice little website buttons.

REQUIREMENTS: PSP6 or 7.

1. Open NEW IMAGE, Background=Transparent, Width=88, Height=31, and Resolution=72.

2. Set your foreground/background color to the color you want to use for your image. For this tutorial, the colors used are shown on the right

3. Click on   (Flood Fill Tool) and RIGHT click anywhere on the canvas.
4. Click on (Preset Shape Tool). Hit the "O" key to open the Tool Option window and follow the setting on the right. Make sure ANTIALIAS is UNCHECKED.
5. ZOOM Into the image and draw a rectangle over the canvass, leaving a 1-pixel margin on all sides.

6. Go to LAYER => Convert to Raster Layer.

7. Change your foreground/background setting to the one shown on the right (or to the color you prefer, of course).

8. ZOOM Into the image again and draw a rectangle extending horizontally across the canvass as shown on the right.

 9. Change your foreground/background setting again...

 10. Draw a rectangle again...

 11. Add text of your own choice of style and color...

12. Go to EFFECTS => 3D Effects => Drop Shadow.

Note: Choose a dark Text and a lighter SHADOW COLOR for the ENGRAVED text look (sample 1). Choose a light Text and a dark SHADOW COLOR for the "popped out" text look (sample 2).
