ACOUSTIC GUITAR
( Part 3 - Head, Hardwares and Strings )

1. Open the Guitar Project from Part2 if you haven't done so already..

2. Using the Vector Tool (Pen Tool) draw a Guitar Head shape you like proportionate to the project you're working on with the Solid Color on the left figure below. Using the same Method for applying texture in Part1 and 2, follow the Texture Color on the left figure below, and change the texture to Crumpled Paper.

3. For the Tuning Machine and Washer, open a New Canvas and follow the simple steps illustrated on the bottom figure. Cut or copy the center of the "Rippled" image using Circle Selector Tool (like the one encircled on the image below) and paste it 6 times along the sides of the Guitar Head, 3 on each side. Add Drop Shadows or Cutout effects as necessary. To show the reflection of the color of guitar, use Color To Target brush over the side of the Tuning Key Nut using an orangy, brownish, or yellowish hue for the Stroke Color. Adjust the Opacity of the brush as necessary.

NOTE: You might need to play around with the Ripple Effect to get the look of the Tuning Machine and Washer you want.  If after adjusting the settings, the effect still looks fuzzy, clear the canvas and make another doodle or try adding other effects like Twirl and Spiky Halo..

4. For the Tuning Knobs, use a Black and White Linear Gradient for Fill Color and leave the Stroke Color Transparent. Using the Vector Tool (Pen Tool), draw the shape of Tuning Knob as shown on the right figure below... or you can draw your own shape for this one. Position the knobs in line with the Guitar Machines. Connect the Knob to the Guitar by simply Adding a New Layer under the Knob and Guitar Head Layers, making a rectangular selection and Flood Fill it with the same Gradient used for the Knob then, applying a vertical Blind Texture Effect.

5. For the String Nut (the white part that keeps the strings in place and evenly spaced out), just make a rectangular selection and Flood Fill it with white or Biege Color (see the sample on the right figure above).

6. For the Strings, use the Stroke Color #CBCC7C and leave the Fill Color transparent. Using the Vector Tool (Pen Tool), draw a line from the guitar machine going to the string nut and down to the string saddle on the Bridge, then to the string pin. Starting from the thickest string, use line width 3, 2.5, 2, 1.75, 1.5 and 1.

Note: For the three thick strings, make a pattern on a New Canvas by filling it with the color #CBCC7C and applying a Blind Texture Effect, Size=2 and Opacity=20. You can then use this as a Pattern for the Stroke Properties. Adjust the Pattern Scale appropriate for the string size (see figure on the right).

7. Convert the String Layer to Raster Layer and Duplicate it. Apply a Cutout shadow with Horizontal Offset=2, Vertical Offset=0, Blur=2, Opacity=100, and Color=#FFFFFF.

That's it.

To finish it up, look at the image one more time and see if everything is in the right place. Make the necessary adjustments and then Merge Visible all the layers. You can now save it, or make it into Tube, or continue working for a background.

Now.. that wasn't hard. :P
